Inbound Exchange Students

At NBCC, we welcome students from around the world to join our vibrant learning community. By studying at NBCC, international students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a supportive and dynamic educational environment, experience Canadian culture firsthand, and benefit from our industry-focused curriculum. 

Most international students apply and study on a full-time basis; however, we welcome exchange students that want to integrate a learning abroad opportunity with their academic experience at home. Your home institution must have a partnership agreement with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøand you must be nominated by your home institution to study at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøas an Inbound Exchange Student.

Being chosen as one of the grantees of the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program feels like holding a golden ticket—one of those rare and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that can change the course of a person’s journey. I am deeply honored to have been entrusted with this chance, which allowed me to pursue the studies I am most passionate about. At New Brunswick Community College – Saint John Campus, I enrolled in Business Administration: Accounting, stepping into a world beyond the familiar borders of my home country, the Philippines.

SEEDs of Future: My Garden of Experiences Studying Abroad

In a nutshell, the entire journey I had as a recipient of the Global Affairs Canada Scholarship through the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program is difficult to condense into a single page. It was fruitful, allowing me to reap kinds of fruit that never decay—valuable experiences, life lessons, and genuine connections that last.

When I left home, I was doubtful whether I would survive living in an unfamiliar place with diverse cultures. Turns out, those two aspects were the ones that made me feel at peace. I was surprised knowing that everybody around me was adjusting too, and the diversity that I was once afraid of became my quilt, embracing me with warmth when homesickness tried to knock me out. Studying abroad is not as lonely as it seems, most especially when you are supported by people who genuinely try to make your stay memorable--I did not feel lonely at all, not even for a second.
