ºÚÁϳԹÏÍødoes not offer on-campus housing, and it is each student’s responsibility to secure their own accommodation. However, we aim to provide support to students in their search for appropriate accommodation in one of our six campus communities. As part of this support, we’ve compiled some off-campus housing resources to help with your search. 

TIP: Begin Your Housing Search Early

Like many other provinces in Canada, New Brunswick has a shortage of available rental properties. Students need to begin their housing search early! It may take some work to find housing that's right for you, and you might need to consider seeking temporary accommodation until you can secure more permanent housing.

Note: Landlords tend to advertise accommodations four to six weeks prior to the move-in date.
Before You Search, Get to Know Your Campus Community

New Brunswick is a very small province compared to the rest of Canada, yet transportation from one location to another can be challenging. Remember to consider transportation and nearby amenities that are important to you.

Helpful Steps to Start Your Search
  • Use a Budget Planner to determine your price range.  A great tool can be found on the Government of Canada website here: .
  • Visit for important information and checklists to help with your housing search. 
  • Google Resources - Check out some of the local hotels, hostels or Airbnb's in your campus community for shorter term stays. ,  ,  , and are sites that offer housing listings. is also a great resource when looking for accommodations in the community you are moving to. Many communities have newcomer associations that you can connect with. (Check out , enter your location and search "newcomer".)
  • Facebook Housing Groups - Check Facebook for groups or online communities specific to Housing or Rent in the community you are in. This platform often has postings for available rentals or potential roommates. Joining these groups can provide valuable information and connections for finding suitable housing.   • Roommate Search - If you are comfortable sharing an accommodation, consider searching for a potential roommate(s). This option can help the student split costs and potentially find housing in desirable locations. can assist in finding compatible roommates.
  • Research - It’s important to do your research. Here are some tips:
    • Research options thoroughly.
    • Visit properties (if you cannot, ask for a live video of the place)
    • Consider factors such as lease terms, costs, safety, and proximity to amenities.
    It might also be beneficial to connect with current ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøStudents who can provide insights or advice on finding housing in the area.
  • Keep a copy of all documents for your own records.
    Most housing options should provide a lease. This is a legal document that helps to protect you and the landlord. They indicate items like length of rental, rules and regulations, If the landlord does not provide a lease, you can obtain a sample one from the .

Tenant Insurance

Tenant insurance is an insurance policy designed to protect you against property loss and liability when you rent/lease a living space from someone else. Each plan is different and there are lots of options. Some landlords require you to have this type of insurance. TD Meloche Monnex offers Tenant Insurance for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøStudents, Staff and Alumni.
